This Birm iron filter system is designed for removal of dissolved iron and manganese from raw water supplies. It includes a 9 x 48 fiberglass mineral tank, Fleck 2510SXT OCS digital control valve, 1 inch stainless steel by-pass, 1 cu. ft. of Birm, 1 sleeve of gravel, 1.05 inch riser tube, funnel, and cap.
Birm is a granular filter media that acts as an insoluble catalyst to enhance the reaction between dissolved oxygen and iron compounds. The media is not consumed during iron removal and does not require chemical regeneration; periodic backwashing is required.
