Corosex is a reactive magnesium oxide media used to correct low pH water and neutralize acidity. It is well suited for applications requiring substantial pH correction or higher flow conditions, and it can help reduce corrosive water conditions by neutralizing free carbon dioxide.

This 13 lb sleeve can be used alone or combined with Calcite to balance correction performance. Mixing with at least 50% Calcite is recommended to help reduce the risk of overcorrection and cementing, especially under lower flow conditions. Because Corosex is soluble to acidity, the media will require periodic replenishment.

For operation, upflow service is generally recommended when water hardness exceeds 5 grains per gallon, while downflow service is satisfactory on waters below 5 grains per gallon or when combined 50/50 with Calcite. Frequent backwashing is recommended to help prevent cementing.

What is Corosex used for?
Corosex is used to correct low pH water by neutralizing acidity. It can also help reduce corrosive water conditions by neutralizing free carbon dioxide.
When is Corosex most effective?
Corosex is used most effectively where pH correction is substantial or where high flow conditions are in use.
Can Corosex be mixed with Calcite?
Yes. Corosex can be combined with Calcite to balance high flow neutralization with slower reacting low flow properties. A minimum 50% Calcite blend is recommended to help prevent cementing.
Can Corosex overcorrect pH?
Under certain low flow conditions, Corosex may overcorrect and create a basic condition. Combining it with Calcite can help reduce this risk.
Does Corosex need to be replenished?
Yes. Corosex is soluble to acidity, so the media must be replenished periodically based on water conditions and usage.
What filter flow direction is recommended?
Upflow service is generally recommended when water hardness exceeds 5 grains per gallon to help prevent cementing. Downflow service is satisfactory on waters with hardness below 5 grains per gallon or when combined with Calcite at least 50-50.
Does Corosex require backwashing?
Yes. Frequent backwashing is recommended to help prevent possible cementing of the mineral bed.
What operating conditions are listed for Corosex?
Listed operating conditions include pH 4-6, bed depth of 24-30 inches, service rate of 5-6 gpm per square foot, backwash rate of 8-12 gpm per square foot, and backwash bed expansion of 35% of bed depth.
Is Corosex certified?
Yes. The product information states that Corosex is NSF Certified.
